Jay broke his foot

Last night we get a call from Josh telling us they are taking Jay to the ER because he hurt his foot jumping in his room. So this morning I called to get the update and they think it is broke in possibly two different places. They want the orthopedic department to look at the x-rays to determine for sure just how bad it is. They wrapped it with an ace bandage and then put a splint on it and wrapped it again. The doctor told Josh and Autumn not to let Jay walk on it until they see the ortho doc. Josh had to put one of his socks over the ace wrap because Jay kept pulling the wrap off. I asked Jay what happened and this is what he told me: I tried to jump from my chair to my bed and I can't do it. I hurt my foot. I went to see the doctor and he gave me a shot and he didn't hurt me. They gave him some Motrin for the pain. Autumn had asked for some Motrin to take home and Jay told the tech that he needed the orange kind. So he got his orange Motrin to take home. Here he is resting in his room. Every time I took his picture, he told me that he wanted to see it and then to take another one. I had brought him a couple of story books from the movie cars. He loves to make faces when you take his picture. At the moment he is not in any pain. Or couldn't you tell! When they put a cast on, it will be a walking cast since he is so young and light weight. The doctor in the ER told them he had a boy this age and the parting words from this doctor was "Good Luck". Wonder what he meant by that? Jay is a handful and trying to keep him down will be a challenge. Today Rick changed the oil in the truck and we have gotten everything ready for us to pull out in the morning. Soon we will go back over to Josh's for pizza. I may not blog again till we get settled in Fort Myers Beach.

Good food 2 nights in a row

Thursday night we went over to Josh and Autumn's for dinner. Autumn made lasagna and boy was it good. We had a good time eating with the kids and grandkids. After dinner the 2 boys and myself did some coloring. We finished but Jackson was still hard at work. On Wed. Jackson had gone on a field trip to the local hospital. He is in the gifted class at school and they meet on Wed. He had a great time and got to wear the scrubs cap and booties. He brought home a big plastic bone that comes apart like it is broken. He is a very good student. Today we went into town and I got a haircut and then we went to the Ford dealer to pick up the part for Josh's car. It was the correct part today and it was all in tack. I don't know if I mentioned his car trouble but the part they ordered came in broken. Anyway, Rick and Josh got the car back. together and that only took 20 minutes. It took another 2 hours to try to get the air out of the radiator system. They just don't build cars like they used to. They don't make anything easy anymore. After that we came home to see if we had any water. You see, yesterday we did not have water for a while due to a main water line break down the road. Last night we had water. This morning we get up and no water again. Then the camp host called us to say there was a water line break in the park. We did have water when we got back so we showered and then headed over to Autumn's moms house to go out to dinner with them. We went to a restaurant in Destin called the Lighthouse. It is one of the places that the locals go to eat. The food was delicious and the company was great. This is us with Ron and Honey. We always have a good time when we go out with them. We try to do a dinner or a lunch at least once while we are in town. They live in Shalimar which is right outside of Eglin. When we came out of the restaurant, the evening was just beautiful! mid to high 70's with a light breeze and very low humidity. That is why we like this area this time of year. We are going to pull out of here on Monday and head to Ocala to meet up with Bob and Liz and then on Tues I think Bob and Deb will show up. Then we all head to Fort Myers Beach. And we will sit still for 3 months. Yea, can't wait for that.

Pictures

Hey, I have finally gotten around to putting my pictures on the blog. The first one is of the beautiful floral arrangement that the Vermilion Township Fire Department sent to the funeral home for mom. That was very thoughtful of them. The Chief and one of the dispatchers came to the viewing. Thanks Frank and Joann. After the funeral I went to PA with my brother and sister-in-law and I did take my camera and never took it out of my bag. I got sick with severe allergies when I was there so I didn't feel like taking pictures. After I got back from there, we went to Michigan to see Buddy and Shelley and to see our lot for next summer. This is our lot. They are going to plant grass in the bare spot and it should come up fine by next May. They had had a lot of rain in the past few days before we got there and our lot was not real wet. A very good sign. Plus we have a tree in the back part. We are looking forward to staying here next summer. We had a good visit with the Wrights. But then, we always do when we are with them. They took us to a cider mill and between the four of us, we bought apples, cinnamon bread, apple butter, fresh donuts, honey and Rick's favorite, honey comb. We have been looking for the honey comb for a long time and finally found it. This is a picture of the normally very small trickling stream. Then it was time to go and before we left, we all visited the little green outhouses. Rick thought he would be funny and get our pictures coming out. So here they are. Thanks, Buddy and Shelley for a very nice distraction from our problems back home. We love you guys and I think it is really neat that it feels like we have known you forever. Can't wait till next summer. On the way back we stopped at a golf course to look around and saw these visitors. The next day we played this course. Most of the courses in the area were closed due to all the rain the area had. But we had to keep the carts on the cart path. This course was absolutely beautiful and very large. We were exhausted when we were done. We will play it again but only if we can take the carts off the path. This course was designed by Arnold Palmer. My Dad would have liked this course. Then we came back to OH and tried to help get Rick's dad ready to move into his sister's house. He was not very happy about that and wanted the chance to stay on his own. We tried to explain that he forgets to take his meds, and he has started to fall down again. Case if point, he couldn't find his new hearing aid. We found it in a shirt pocket by the bed. So please pray for Rick's dad that he gets peace for his situation. Here is Rick and his dad just before we left. We packed up the camper and headed south. We stopped in Alabama for the night before we got into Eglin AFB. We ran into a problem with what the people down south call "love bugs". This is the front of the camper after Rick had started washing it. This picture does not do it justice. The front of the camper and the truck were black from these bugs. And if you don't wash them off right away, they start ruining your paint. This is for you Bob, watch out. Rick worked really hard all morning to get both vehicles clean. But they looked real good when he was done. I just forgot to get a picture of them clean. Sorry. This is our lot at the Famcamp on base. Today we got up to go over to Josh's to babysit with Jay while Autumn and Josh had an appointment. Then Rick and Josh went into the Ford dealer to look into a part for Josh's car and Autumn needed to run some errands. Then Josh and Jay came over for lunch and some fun time. We were outside and the "boys" were throwing little acorns at each other. We all laughed so hard. This laughter was very much needed. So much has been going on this past few weeks and it has taken its toll on us. So this was fun. Josh and Jay. I took the camera back over to Josh's to get a picture of Jackson and Autumn but forgot to get it out of the truck. I think I'm getting old or something. I guess I need memory pills. Oh well. I will get pictures before we leave. I promise. Jay has so much energy that I would love to harness some of it. But I remember saying the same thing about Josh and Rachel when they were little and I was young back then. I know that I'm glad I had my kids when I was younger so that I had enough energy to take care of them. We are not sure exactly what day we are pulling out of here before heading to Fort Myers Beach. We will probably meet up with Bob and Liz at the end of the month and head down together. Bob had waxed his camper and is bummed out about the love bugs. They last thru the months of Sept and Oct. We have arrived in Florida

Today we arrived at Eglin AFB in Florida to visit with Josh and his family. We have a very nice site at the Famcamp. But you should see the front of the camper and the truck. The "lovebugs" are out in force. They are a nusiance bug that has two bugs joined together. If you do not wash them off, what ever is in their system will start to eat away at your paint. So tomorrow we will need to wash the front of both vehicles. I will try to get some pictures on the blog this week. Autumn and the boys are in Mississippi visiting her grandmother that just turned 80. We will see them tomorrow. It is nice to be back into our routine. Will say more about that later.

Thank you for all your prayers

We have survived the funeral. We greatly appreciated all the best wishes and prayers that were sent our way. We really needed them. We are getting ready to head out of Ohio. I have visited my mother in PA and came back home yesterday. I really hated to leave Rick here without me, but he wanted me to see my mom when I had the opportunity. We will go visit Buddy and Shelley tomorrow for an overnighter and then on Wed., we move Rick's Dad into his sister Rose's house while John goes back overseas. This is all a big turmoil for him. He is really confused about things at times, so please keep him in your prayers. Right now we are going thru the remnants of Ike. The wind is blowing real hard and the camper is rocky. We have had some rain but the wind in the worst. Hopefully we don't get blown away. We will head to our son's in Florida before we head over to our winter home. I will try to get busy and get caught up on our blog. Thanks again for all the prayers and comments. It has meant a lot to us. We greatly appreciate our family and friends. Safe travels for all that are heading to their winter homes.

Getting thru a difficult time

As you know from reading my blog, we lost Rick's Mom yesterday. We had spent Wednesday with her and knew she was failing but never dreamed it would be the next day. We were just getting ready to sit down to dinner when the call came. The joy of this is knowing that she is no longer suffering and is in heaven with her parents and the Lord and will be waiting for us when our time comes. She had had a couple of dreams that entailed her walking in the woods hand in hand with her mother. I told her that was the most beautiful dream anyone could have. She was ready to meet the Lord and at the same time afraid to die. She wanted to die at home, which she did. She did not want to die alone, her husband, son, daughter, granddaughter, grandson, and brother were with her. She did not want to die in the winter, but be surrounded by the beauty that God has blessed us with in the summer and fall times. So, as it has been a merry go round of feelings and emotions, the greatest of all is knowing that she is cured of cancer, and that she is happy again. We will all miss her, no doubt about that. Today we went to the funeral home to finalize all the arrangements that were made a year ago. It was so much easier since the major decisions were made ahead of time. It will be a hard day to get thru,but thanks to all the prayers of all of our family and friends, I know we will get thru it. Sitting and reminissing about past times ends up with both laughter and tears. Only natural for the grieving process. It was a little hard to remember who called whom to notify them and we were all comparing notes. It has been very confusing at times and we are now sitting at the camper trying to relax. Then I started reading the ecards and the e-mails from family and friends and we start crying all over again. I have been able to hold it together until I read something or hear a special song. I need to be strong for Rick. He may seem like a big burly guy sometimes, but he has a heart of gold. He was the rock for me when my Dad died and I want to be that for him. Today we went to the florist to order the flowers for the top of the casket. We went to our old neighbor who owns the florist shop and Rick's sister was telling Holly her name and Rick walked around the counter and told her "formerly Fury". Holly looked up and said, Oh no, not your mom!!! So Rick told her that we expected a discount because of being neighbors for so many years. She started laughing and said, "Only you would ask for a discount at a time like this." And bless her heart, she did give us a very good price on the flowers. She also knows what type of flowers Mom liked, because we always called her when we needed to send flowers to her. That is a plus. Her daughter and my son grew up together and were real good friends. The weather here has been gloomy today. We were made aware of Gustav all night last night. The camper rocked from the wind blowing so hard. Not a whole lot of rain during the night, but it has been raining and drizzling all day long. Fitting the weather matched some of our moods. Dad and I sat on the front porch for a long time today talking about feelings, emotions, and Mom. He is holding up pretty good considering. Again I thank all of you for your support and prayers for us. Family and friends are the best in a time of crisis. I found out that my brother and sister-in-law from Columbus area are coming for the funeral and my sister and brother-in-law from Medina will also be coming. That means a lot to me. Next week I go to visit my mother and am looking forward to that. Time to go for now. Will write more at a later date.

Rick's Mom went home to be with the Lord

About 5:45 p.m. this evening, Rick's Mom went home to be with the Lord. Please keep the entire family in your prayers. I thank all that have kept us in your prayers. We greatly appreciated all the prayers we received.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY JOSH AND AUTUMN

Today is our sons anniversary. Hope they have a good day. We went out today and bought a sport jacket for Rick to wear to his mothers funeral. We don't expect her to live thru the weekend. Today she quit eating and drinking so it won't be long now. She has gone downhill fast. Hopefully she goes peacefully. Then she will be in heaven and will no longer be hurting or sick. Times have been tough for the family. Please keep us in your prayers.
