I don’t know why the date reads May 1. This was typed and published on Friday, April 30th. The only thing I can think of is that the time is east coast time. I am on the west coast. Just wanted you to know.

Spring Flowers

Here are some of the spring flowers around the club house. Beautiful purple tulips. I love the color of these! I don’t know what type of bush this is, but the flowers are really pretty. White lilacs. The bush is big, but not a whole lot of flowers on it.

I just love lilacs! I love the beauty of the flower and also the magnificent fragrance.

I love the bright yellow on these leaves. It really makes it stand out amongst the other bushes. A flowering tree. Next is a close up of the flowers on this tree. All these flowers and trees are around the parking lot and clubhouse. It is very pretty here. When they get the pool opened and cleaned up, I will get a picture of that. We are fairly close to the pool, which will be nice for when it finally warms up here. We are hoping to go out and play some golf tomorrow. Maybe the wind will have died down somewhat. Had one great big gust of wind come thru this afternoon and the dust was flying and there was a great big dust devil in the parking lot. Then it was over in about 2 minutes. Hadn’t seen a dust devil since we left Arizona.

Our Golf Course for the Summer

Rick took some pictures of the golf course this morning. Jay was mowing while Rick was taking the pics. Rick would be mowing the back 9. These pictures are of the front 9. This is the 9th putting green. I can see this from the club house when I am at work. The is looking back up number 1 fairway to the tee box. This water trap is just over the hill and you can’t see it from the fairway before you get to No 1 green. I have lost a couple of balls in there already. I have to remember to play short on my 2nd hit to avoid this water trap. Part of the course has houses around it. This is off to the right side of one of the fairways. Can’t remember which one. This is the mower that Rick uses. This is our neighbor Jay. Can you tell that he is cold? I mean froze? They have been going out by 7 a.m. and it has been in the low 40’s with the wind blowing. And this is the new boot we got for Rick’s ankle. It keeps his ankle immobilized. He has noticed a big difference since he has been using it. Next post will be of some of the flowers here at our summer home.

Whirligig Row

We live on whirligig row. That is, there are 3 of us in RV’s that put these kid’s whirligigs on the roofs by the air units so the birds do not make a nest in them. Our neighbors in the motor home had a huge nest with eggs in it in their back a/c unit. Another lady that has stayed here before suggested getting the whirligigs to put on top. She has done this for herself. So the neighbors bought some and they had 2 left and Jay climbed up on top of our 5th wheel and put one on each air unit. I don’t do heights and Rick cannot climb up there because of his ankle. So thank you Jay. Just above the slide you can see the whirligig. That is Jay and Betty’s RV. They work the same jobs we do and they are the nicest people. Glad they are our neighbors. This is Dina and Art’s 5th wheel. They have worked here before and Dina was one of the gals that trained us. Another great couple. But then, most of us full timers are great people and that is why we do what we do. And of course, this one is ours. They do make noise when the wind blows, but it is tolerable if it keeps the birds from building nests up there. Jay has a pusher and he did not want the birds to build in the engine so he put a whirligig on the back. I will try to get a picture of the ground squirrels that are taking over this place. The state has come in and put out live traps to try to get rid of some of them. Apparently they are a protected species, I have no clue why, as there are thousands of them here. You have to be real careful walking around the course so you don’t step in one of their holes. Today the wind is blowing real hard. I worked this morning and I was surprised as to how many golfers went out to play. Real die hards. Or should I say dedicated golfers. I guess that sounds better.

Yesterday we got a walking boot for Rick to wear on his ankle. It helps him walk easier and with less pain. Hopefully, this will help in the healing process also as he will have it more immobile than if it was just wrapped. Please keep him in your prayers for a fast recovery. It is going on 4 weeks since he sprained it and he is not happy with the way it is healing. He wants to get out there and golf! We are still waiting for the warm weather to come our way. I guess once it gets here it will be real nice for the summer. Our prayers are out there for those of you who are travel. Happy trails and arrive safely at your destination. Love to all.

New Jobs

We both have started our new jobs. Mine is a lot to remember but it will be repetitious and will be easy to remember once having done it for a while. Ricks is going ok but his biggest problem is having to get off of the mower to pull the 150 yard markers. And only because of his ankle problem. Once that is healed, his will be fine too. The weather here has been pretty good up until today. It rained a little over night and it was cooler today. The sun did come out this afternoon and it warmed up a little. Tomorrow, I work by myself for the first time. Shouldn't be to busy. I noticed that they have quail birds here as in Arizona, but these are a little different. I hopefully will be able to get a picture of them. I do want to go around the golf course and get pictures of the flowering trees and the spring flowers. It really does remind me of northern Ohio. The RV park is pretty full. I don't recall a whole lot of RV parks that are on an 18 hole golf course. I think it is pretty neat. I made a big pot of chili today and boy did it taste good! Especially since it was cold outside. The whole camper smells sooo good! The new workampers are here and they have started on uncovering the pool. Can't wait for the weather to get warm so we can use it. Hope everyone has a good day. Hey Don, get well soon. Sorry you are down with the flu. Love you.

Trip to Washington

We left sunny Arizona on a Sunday morning and it was a beautiful day. I actually drove a little bit at the beginning of this trip. Felt comfortable driving too. Here are some pictures of Arizona. We went up thru Parker and Lake Havasu City. Then we went on up to Las Vegas and spent the night just north of the city. The next morning we got up and it was 55 and we headed north. Little did we know what we were getting into. This was along side the road. We were concerned when the temperature started to drop. Snow sticking on the road signs. Snow sticking on the trees. I forgot to take a picture when it read 32. The last time I saw a snow plow working was before we went on the road back home in Ohio. This was beginning to be a bit scary. The only good thing was that the roads were not freezing over. Besides the snow, we had sleet and rain. We kept looking at each other and saying “Why are we here?” This is more snow than I ever wanted to see again without watching TV. But we made it thru this and at the bottom of this mountain, we pulled in to fuel up and we went and put on long pants and got our winter coats out. We had been wearing shorts and I had sandals on. What a shock for our systems!

Last few pictures from AZ

Ok, here are some pictures of the cactus garden at Sunscape RV where Don and LaVon are staying. Hope you enjoy spring in the desert. We had dinner with Don and LaVon and it was fantastic as usual. It was very hard to say good bye to these two lovely people. They have meant so much to us and we will miss them. This is a little blurry but this depicts them to a tee. Always smiling and laughing. We so enjoyed being with them this past year. Next post will be of our trip to Washington.

Traveling

We are in Nevada now and the weather is awful! This morning we started out at 55 with light rain. Then we started going up in elevation and started seeing snow on the mountain tops. We got stopped for road construction and while we were slowing moving, I noticed that there was a lot of snow on the ground right beside the road! No longer just on the mountain tops. And it went downhill from there. I did get pictures and when we get parked in Washington, I will post the pics. Hope all is well with everyone. We love you.

Not Enough Time

I have been so busy that I have not had time to update the blog. I have pictures and everything. I will try in a couple of weeks to get things caught up here. We leave AZ on Sunday and have a 4 day trip to Washington. Rick severely sprained his ankle (left one) on Monday and we moved our departure day back one day because of it. I have tried to do all of his outdoor stuff that he normally does when we are getting ready to depart, but I did need his help with a couple of things. Luckily his next job requires that he sit on a mower and will not have to use that ankle. But I am going to need a golf partner until his foot heals. LOL! We have had our final dinner with the Bakers on Thursday and again, the guys beat the gals in cards. I haven't a clue what we are doing wrong! Sad farewells at the end of the evening. Don and LaVon have played a very special role in our lives and we will miss them. But we both have Skype and that should be fun talking to them that way. Well, I won't be on here for a while, with the traveling and learning a new job. So I hope everyone has safe travels and good weather and a fun summer.
