Nasty flu bug

I thought I would get out of Arizona without getting any of the crud viruses that were going around. Wrong!!! Sat night I came down with the stomach flu. It was horrible. I just wanted to die. It is now Monday morning and I'm starting to feel human again. Thank goodness, because we pull out of here tomorrow morning. Rick checked out the lights last night and everything is working. I've got most of the inside ready, just some last minute stuff to put away. I missed saying goodbye to Barbara and Darrell Howard. They left Sunday, earlier than planned because of the wind. Robin and Neil stopped by to say goodbye but I was really out of it. Don and LaVon left this morning, missed them too. Also, Nancy and George Reid, (camp host) left this morning and I missed them also. This is a real bummer. Hopefully, we will catch up with these great folks somewhere down the road.

Getting ready to travel

Today we went and did some errands that needed to be done before we went on the road. I think I have enough groceries to get us across into Florida. Then I can shop on base at the commisary with our son. We went out to dinner with Don and LaVon Baker and Bud and Shelley Wright one last time. We will miss Don and LaVon a whole lot. Don was our pastor here at the park this winter and he touched our lives tremendously. We will be traveling to Texas with Bud and Shelley so we still have time to enjoy being with them. Tonight we are just vegitating, Rick has a headache and I'm just plain tired.

Last full day of workamping at Quail Run

Wow, never thought I would be so happy not to be getting up at 5:30 a.m. to go to work. Today we ended our winter stint here in Arizona. Time to get on the road again. But sorry to say goodbye to so many wonderful people that have been our family for the last 6 months. Yesterday, after work we went golfing and and boy did we do badly. We stopped keeping score after the 3rd hole. We ate dinner at the golf course and came home and just crashed. Well, not really, I went up and played bingo for the last time. Didn't win but had a good time chit chatting with people. Tonight we may go out for pizza. We put the bicycles on the back of the camper this morning. Now all we have to do is pick up the jacks, put the hoses away and pick up the electrical stuff. We will be pulling out of Arizona City on April 1, 2008.

March 26, 2008

Today started our last 3 day shift for the winter. It is harder and harder to get up at 5:30 to go to work. After work today we went to the pool with Barbara and Darrell and Bob and Liz. Buddy and Shelley stopped by for a few minutes. After the pool we went to Barbara and Darrells for a cook out with all of us. Had a great time. Will miss these people a lot. Nexst winter will be in Florida and hopefully we will all be able to get together again. Well, have to go, its time for bed.

March 25, 2008

Today was a hot one. We got up around 8 and started working on gettting the camper ready for travel. We have accumulated more junk and had trouble finding where we were going to put everything. We took the cover around the front of the overhang on the 5th wheel off and cleaned it and was surprised at how small it actually folded up. We cleaned the mats we had down and the chairs. I didn't wash the bicycles since they will be on the back and will get dirty anyway. We then went to Wendys for lunch and came back so Rick could rest before going over to the golf course to wash carts. He has been washing carts one day a week since we've been here so we could golf for free. Not a bad deal. Today is his last day to work. Around 4 I will go up to the pool with Bob and Liz from New Hampshire and Barb and Darrell from Texas and then we will go to Barbs for dinner. They have been such good friends that we will cherish always. It has been sad to say goodbye to all the great people we have met here. We said goodbye to Jack and Cathy a couple of nights ago and they pulled out yesterday. Les and His wife pulled out today. Just found out that Karen and Harold will be here till May 1st. Karen said that when she saw us packing it made her sad. She knows we will be leaving soon. We have been thinking alot about what the kids will get from the stuff we still have back home and need to get rid of. Rick gets upset about all the things that took us almost 35 years to accumulate and now we are just giving it away. But I have so enjoyed this first year on the road that to me its just "stuff". We have been thinking hard about the fuel prices, we use diesel. Hopefully it won't change to much how we plan on traveling. I was asked how someone can leave a post, Don, I will check on this and let you know. Will maybe talk more later or tomorrow.

Getting caught up.

We have been at Quail Run RV Resort in Arizona City AZ since Sept 25, 2007. We have workamped in the housekeeping dept. We have worked 3 days on and 6 days off this whole winter. The past winter was chillier than we had hoped it would be, but it never snowed here. So we were ok with that. We will be leaving here soon and heading to San Antonio TX with our new friends Bud and Shelley Wright(I wonder if we are really related since my maiden name was Wright). We will then be heading to Mississippi to visit with our old friends Donna and Jim Lee. From there we will be going to Fort Walton Beaach FL to visit with our son Josh and his family. IT will be sad to say goodbye to all our newly formed friends but it is time to get back on the road. I'm going to try to keep this as up to date as possible so bare with me.

OK Testing

I am up and running thanks to LaVon. Look out world. They don't call us the furys follies for nothing. All that know Rick will know why.
