Getting Caught Up Part II

Ok here is a picture of one of the rigs that has a flag pole on the back of it. Trying to get the colorful sky with the flag. When you do have clouds out here in Arizona, you get some beautiful sunsets.  

If you look at this picture, you see the palm tree in the center and the mountains on the right side. We got up one morning and saw this hot air balloon. We see this balloon all the time. It is owned by a local doctor. I’m not sure where he was landing at. Usually he lands at the skydiving place where there is a nice runway. We have a lot of entertainment in this park. There is always something to do. These people really like to dance. All kinds of dancing. Line dancing is really big here.

Here are some pictures of the blue moon that happened last month. At least I think it was last month. The Quantum is owned by our friends, Don and LaVon.

And we went to visit our friends Kelly and Ann. They were in Tucson to visit their son. They have a brand new 5th wheel and they are new to this RV full timing that we do. They would always go south for the winter. They are from Tennessee. I love the inside of their 5th wheel. The layout is really nice. They headed back to Florida and had a smidgen of snow and sleet. We kept telling them they should have stayed out here in Arizona. We enjoyed our visit with them. It just wasn’t long enough.

We have been in charge of a golf outing called “Sorry Dear”. This is played by couples and you take turns hitting the ball. If you hit a bad shot, you turn to your spouse and say “sorry dear” because now he has to hit your bad shot. We have had a lot of fun with this and we will be doing this again next year. We do this once a month. Rick and I say sorry dear a lot to each other. We have been golfing very bad lately. Now for our plans for the summer. We are going to the state of Washington and work in an area that is called the High Desert. So the weather will not be as wet as in the western part of the state. We will be in the eastern part. We will be working at an 18 hole golf course that has a 50 site RV park with it. We are really looking forward to this. Free golf! You can’t beat that! We will be up there by April 15th. I think this is about all I needed to say to catch up with us.  I will try to write again before another month goes by.

Getting Caught Up

Well, I actually have downloaded some of the pictures I have taken. And I will try to tell you a little of what we have been doing and what has been going on with our lives. I want to show you the golf course that Rick works at and that we play at. This is the restaurant side of the club house. Duffers has good food and treats us golfers very well. The most green you see in this area are the golf courses. We have enjoyed and hated playing golf here. The hated part is when we golf very badly. And that is not the courses fault. If you get my drift. Some days are better than others. I just don’t understand how I can play so good one day and then so bad the next. Oh well, that’s the way it goes.

Next is the storm that we endured. We got more rain during this storm then they normally get during their rainy season. This pond that you will see is dry 98% of the time. By the time it quit raining, there was 5’ of water in it. The next pictures will be of the horseshoe area. We lost this beautiful tree due to the high wind and the saturated ground. As you are driving around the area now, you see lots of green and that green is the weeds that are growing because of all the rain that has fallen this winter. Much more than they normally receive. But it beats snow no matter what you say.

I really like this next picture. But then, I am a little prejudice about the subject. And this next picture is of Rick and his girlfriend, Darlene. This lady is such a blessing to us. Darlene and her friend Lyn has a Cancer Survivor Party every year and the money they raise goes to the helping hands ladies from the park here that make things for cancer patients. She is such a sweetheart. Every dance that we attend, she comes looking for Rick and pretends to throw out a fishing line and reel him in for a dance. Everyone gets a kick out of that. We have met so many great people here in Arizona that we will be back here again next winter. Part II to follow.

Where has the time gone?

I can't believe how long it has been since I blogged last. Sorry about that. We have been busy but I couldn't really tell you with what. Retirement does that to you. Everyday seems like it is Saturday so it is hard to keep track of time. Well, we have golfed a little, Rick more than me. And we have visited with friends, played cards, can't seem to get out of our slump. The guys keep beating us. But it's about time for a come back. At least, I hope so. We survived the great storm that we had a week and a half ago. We had high winds and a lot of rain. More rain that they normally get during their monsoon season. The park here has a retention pond for such rain storms. This pond is almost always dry. Well, it filled up to the top after this rain. Roads closed and houses with water in them. Then the next week it rained all night long again. And again, roads were closed and everything was a muddy mess. The sun came out and now we are in for more rain this week. Hopefully, it will be short and sweet and not a soaker. We are very busy here in the park. It is really filling up fast. So that has kept us busy in the office. There are a lot of neat workampers here and we enjoy talking to them. We got a job offer for eastern Iowa at a nice park, but we wanted to stay out west for a time, so we turned that offer down. Then Sunday evening we got a phone call from a small RV park and 18 hole golf course in the state of Washington to work for them this summer. It sounded really good and we said we would think about it for a couple of days and get back to them. We talked to one of the workampers here in the park to find out about this part of Washington. Come to find out, they are from this area and told us we would like working there. So we called him back this evening and asked a couple of questions, and accepted the job. We will get free golf by working there. I'm all for anything free. So we are excited about this prospect. We have never been to Washington and am looking forward to seeing this part of the United States. We will then come back to Arizona City for next winter. We will miss seeing our kids this summer and hope they understand what we are doing. We will be in touch with them by phone all the time. We love our kids and grand kids very much but we also love our life style of traveling around this great country of ours. We are so blessed to be able to do this at our age. And we have met a lot of great people from all over. We keep in touch with quite a few of them and some are forever best friends. You know who you are.
