We made it to OH

We are back home in OH. It was an exhausting trip. We drove over 500 miles the second day but we wanted to be home in time to go to a cancer benefit for a dear family friend. Rick grew up with the Bissett kids and Tracy's husband Dan is dying from cancer. We did make the dinner and when she saw us she hugged Rick so tight and said that she couldn't handle all the people that had come out for this dinner. We told her that her and Dan were so well loved that that was why all those folks were there. Rick just held on to her and told her she could do this. They had a great turn out. We did not stay very long because we were tired. Today we had to re-level the camper, it just doesn't work good when you are tired. We also had to put the tarp above the slideout because we are expecting rain for the next 4 days. I don't like spring for that reason. But we had good news from Jay's doctor about his arm and I will be posting the last pictures I took another day. Hope everyone who is traveling stays safe.

Biloxi

Today we went to Biloxi so Rick could see the orthopedic doctor. He moved Rick's knee every which way but loose. Then they took x-rays of both his knees and then a couple more of the sore one. He has a torn meniscus. The doctor gave him a shot of cortisone in the knee and put him on an anti-inflammatory medicine and a new pain killer. He said if this did not do the trick, he would have to have surgery. So hopefully, this will do the trick. Rick was really hurting after the doctor moved his knee all around. We then stopped at Walmart to get some last minute things for the road. Tomorrow morning we will start to pack up and then go over to Josh's for dinner and to say our good-byes. Saying good-bye will be hard this time. We have had so much fun with those grand kids this time. I will be off the computer for a few days until we get back up to OH and I get set back up again. We talked to the owners of the park up north today and they have not turned the water on yet due to the cold weather. Great. But they put us close enough to the bath house that we can run a hose and fill up our tank once we get there. He gave us our site number in case they are not in the office when we arrive. It will depend on how Rick's knee is feeling as to how long we will travel each day. Hope everyone has a good week.

Easter and More Severe Storms

Easter morning we got ready to leave the campground to head to church. We got into the truck and it wouldn't start. Dead battery. So we jumped it and hoped it would get us to the church without quitting. It did and after church it started. Beautiful church service. A little different approach to the Easter service and it was real nice. Afterwards, we went to a nice Chinese restaurant and had a nice dinner. Then we went back to Josh's and Rick and Josh pulled the battery out of the truck and went a bought a new one. Now the truck is ready for the trip home. It started raining and storming a little while we were still at Josh's but it seemed to have died down. Here is Jay on his horse.101_2825 He really needs to be in the mood for a picture. This one he was. This one he wasn't.101_2826 Jackson was not home at the time I took these. Then he was in the mood again. He is so funny.101_2827 I see so much of Josh in Jay that it brings back lots of memories. We were at the restaurant and Josh asked me if he was like Jay is when he was little. I said not as much. Josh was more laid back and very lovable. Jay has more of a temper but can be very lovable when he wants to be. It just needs to be on his terms. We left their place about 7:30 to head back home. I got into my pj's and had started to relax when the wind kicked up and we lost out satellite. So Rick got on the computer and started looking at the weather and saw some really nasty stuff coming in. So I got dressed again and we were soon over at the wash house because the storms were coming in. This is between 9-10. By 11:00 I was on the phone to Josh telling him he was under a tornado warning. Rick had the movie camera out and was filming the lightning. He was facing the camper and all of a sudden a big lightning bolt came down right behind the camper and BOOM, the flash of light and our outside lights went off. We hurriedly went into the bath house. We went back out to see if the camper was on fire. No, thank goodness. But we were sure everything that was plugged in was fried. Rick thought it hit the camper, I thought it hit the electric plug. So in a lull, Rick went over to check on things. Lo and behold, we had power inside. It had popped a 20amp breaker. Thank goodness that was all that was wrong. He came back over and we were going to go back to the camper when it got real bad again. So it was after midnight when we got back into the camper. I went to bed around 2 am and Rick came to bed around 3. But we slept in this morning. We cleaned up around the camper and put some stuff away in preparation of leaving on Thursday. We decided to call Jim and Donna to go out for dinner. We met them down in Wiggins and then went to their house. But before leaving I was on the computer looking at the weather and saw nothing in our area. I even had the weather channel on and again, nothing in our area. By the time we were leaving, it had started to rain. Then our county was under a severe thunderstorm warning. We drove out of it as we were heading south. So we stayed at Jim and Donna's longer than we had planned because Josh called to see where we were because the weather was bad again. We did hit a hard rain but it didn't last very long as we were driving home. Hopefully, we will not see anymore storms for a while. We have had our fill. Our grandson Jackson is sick with the flu. Hopefully he will feel better tomorrow.

We have been busy this past week. Sunday after church the kids came out to the campground to do some fishing. We are on a big lake but they have a private fishing pond that they stock with catfish and other fish. You do not have to have a state fishing license for this pond. Here are some pictures of my guys fishing, all four of them.101_2813 Josh and Jackson on the pier.101_2815 Rick and Josh.101_2817 Jay with Pappy. 101_2814 Jackson gets a little impatient but he is learning.101_2824 Josh and his boys. 101_2816 Jay and I went for a walk and after a few minutes, he told me that we were lost and needed to turn around and go back. So we did.  This week we babysat for Jay Monday and Tuesday because of problems with the babysitter. Josh watched the boys Wed and Thurs. and we will watch the boys on Friday. The last couple of days the kids have been looking for a new day care. Tomorrow we are supposed to get more storms. Like we need them??? On Tuesday, Rick went to change the brake pads on the truck and found that the caliper was broken and leaking fluid. So we had to have the truck towed to the Ford dealer to have that fixed. They brought a flatbed to put the truck on. We picked it up today. I'm glad we found it out now and not when we were towing the camper. Thank you Lord!!! We went golfing today with our friends Jim and Donna. Rick did lousy and I did good. I beat him by one stroke. The first 9 holes I got a 49. That is the very first time I shot below a 50 for 9 holes. I was thrilled!!! I love my new driver. We just about got blown away today while playing. We had 30 mile wind gust. Unreal. We are having dinner at the kids on Sunday. Sounds like a very good menu. We enjoyed going to Josh's church. They have a young preacher that preaches from the Bible. That is great. And the kids love Awanas. We were playing some gospel music on the truck radio and Jay asked us if that was a "God" song. I said yes and he said play it again. So we did and he promptly fell asleep. God takes care of the children. Take care all.

Interesting pictures

Rick was up early one morning and took these pictures of the sun and shadows across the back window.100_2804 100_2807 100_2808 Aren't these neat? I loved them. I forgot to put them in the other blog. This way they have their own space.

Pics

Well, Here are some of the pictures I was talking about before. We played golf with our friends, Jim and Donna.sany0244 sany0245 sany0242 We can't go golfing without doing some golf ball hunting. Like we really need more balls. Here are the pictures of the boys.100_2799 This is Jay and his red spider man cast. We signed it yesterday. He has surgery on the 16th of this month to take to rods out. I'm not sure if he will have another cast or not.100_2802 Jackson with his new glasses. He broke his old ones in a bicycle accident that left him with a black eye. He looks so scholarly.100_2794 Look and you will see the hail that fell. 100_2788 A couple pieces of the hail on our mat. Luckily there was no damage to our rig or truck. The kids got some great news yesterday. They had received the bill for Jay's surgery and it was over 30,000.00 and they had no idea how they were going to pay it. Well, the Lord has been watching out for them and they found out yesterday that they have been covered under the military insurance since Josh got out of the Air Force in Nov. They will be covered until May 13th. So the surgery is covered under this policy and the surgery to have the rods taken out will be covered also. And Autumn has been going without some of her medication because they have had no insurance. So Monday she is going to make an appointment for her and pray that she gets in real soon. We went over to their house last night for a celebration dinner. Steak, baked potatoes, green beans, salad. Everything was delicious! We watched some TV and then came home. Today Josh was going to bring the boys over to go fishing, but he had to work late. Hopefully, the rain will hold off tomorrow so they can get in some fishing. They have a pond here that they stock with catfish. The park here has filled up in the last couple of days. Apparently spring break is upon us for this area. We will try to get an MRI done on Rick's knee either Monday or Tuesday. Will let you know what we find out.

Golfing and Hail

But not at the same time. Monday we went golfing with Jim and Donna Lee, our friends that we have been visiting in MS since we went on the road. They are from our home town. Had a great time. By the time we got home, Rick's knee was really hurting him. So we started the process of heat, ice, heat, ice, ect for the rest of the night. Then on Tuesday, we started the process all over again. He was going to stay off of it for the day to see if that helped. Well, guess what. The sky got black and it started to rain and then it started to hail. This is the worst weather we have experienced in MS in the last 2 years. (And we have stayed here twice a year for those 2 years.) We just watched stunned at the hail coming down. Some were pea sized and then they started getting bigger! We took pictures that I will put on the blog in the next day or two. We lost our satellite so I was on the computer watching the weather. It showed the hail and then it went to a purple triangle. You don't ever want to see the purple triangle. It means that a tornado vortex is in the storm. Luckily it did not touch down. Thank you Lord for keeping us safe thru all these storms. Today we got up early and drove down to Gulfport to see the doctor about Rick's knee. He got a shot combination of cortisone and a pain killer. The doctor wants Rick to get an MRI on his knee but we did not make that appointment. Rick wants to see if the shot and the pain killers work, along with the Aleve. We then stopped at Sam's Club and had new tires put on the front of the truck. Then back home until Josh called to say he was home. We took dinner over to him and his family. I got pictures of both the boys, Jackson with his new glasses and Jay with his new RED cast. I will put them on in a couple days. Just to tired tonight. Tomorrow we go to Jim and Donna's to visit and then off for the best catfish dinner around. Oh did I mention we will be staying in MS for another 2 weeks? Carriage called and said the plant will be on shutdown due to lack of orders the week we were to go there. So that was rescheduled for the beginning of May. This is a good thing, because it is supposed to snow in OH this week. I'm going to bed.
