Stormy weather

Today we did absolutely nothing but watch TV, knitting (I did that), and surf the Internet. Well, we learned that Barbara and Darrell are in Chicago working and that today was Darrell's birthday. So we called him and sang happy birthday to him over the phone. That was a hoot. We could here Barbara in the background saying who is that. So we talked to them for a little bit. They were on their way to a job site. It was good to hear their voices. We miss them a lot. After lunch we watched as some storm clouds came rolling in. At first it wasn't to bad, but it kept getting darker and darker. So we went out with the camera to get some pictures. I think this is what you call a shelf cloud. The lightning was starting to get pretty intense. Rick tried to get a picture of the lightning but to no avail. Do you notice the piece of equipment in the bottom left corner of the picture? We are on an end site and this is in our back yard. They are in the process of installing a backflow device on the water system across the street from us and this has been sitting here since we got here and no one has used it. Rick tried to see if any of his keys would turn it on. He loves working with machines. This was the last of the storm pictures we took and I went into the house while Rick stayed out to watch the storm. I looked out the window and saw the guy across from us was trying to put up his awning in the wind and he was all by himself. I went out and told Rick and we both went over to help. The wind was blowing so hard and it was lightning all around us and it was scary. A couple of teenage boys were driving by on a golf cart and Rick hollered at them to help us and with all 5 of us we were able to get the awning up without it ripping. Thank you Lord. So then the storm past and this is the sky afterwards. And it went from the high 70's to 66 after the storm. Then it did warm up again to 71. So that was our excitement for the day. It has been storming like this almost everyday now for the last few days.
