Grand Coulee Dam part 2

Ok, we are now getting close to the dam itself. Be prepared for more pics! This is the top of the dam. Lake Roosevelt. Going down to the dam. We have heard that having water running over the dam is unusual. But we have had a lot of rain this spring, so we were lucky enough to see this beautiful site! The roar from all this water falling was very loud. At night they have a light show they show on the dam itself. It tells the history of how and why the dam was built and the benefits of it now. The entire Columbia Basin is irrigated with this water. This is the Columbia River. This is the bridge going over the Columbia River on SR 155 heading back to the dam. This is the little motel we stayed at. And here is the courtyard right outside our door. Rick talking to Rick, who is traveling on his Harley. This Rick is a veteran and also was a Capt on his fire dept. So the two of them got along great. Real nice guy. We had breakfast at Flo’s Diner, which was right next door to our motel. Here are some of the cute things hanging on the walls. This is the mural on the backside of our room. Now for our trip back to the camper. More pics. For the entire trip we saw signs that read rocks, next 4 miles or something like that. We even saw one sign that read rolling rock. This was on a hill and the rocks would roll down the hill if it fell off the cliffs!

These are manmade lakes. There are old towns under the bottom of these lakes. They relocated many, many people to get this all done. Up by the trees, there were people walking. You can hardly see them, that is how high they were up there. Just beautiful! The background here is at the Steamboat Rock State Park. This rock formation looks like a steamboat. This park has a really nice camping area there.
