Potholes State Park

Yes, there is a park called Potholes. We had visions of all these little areas of water in what we thought would be the potholes. As we got closer to the park, we started to see this huge lake. Boy, were we surprised! This little outlet had a camper on it. There is dry camping in a lot of areas around this lake. This is the Pothole Canal. There are many canals in this area for the irrigation that they do. We had taken a picnic lunch with us. This is the picnic area. That is the water in the background. We found a table under a tree and ate our lunch. This is Rick talking to Don Baker on the phone. We were telling them to come have a picnic with us. They of course were in OK at the time. We miss you Don and LaVon! Wish you were here. You would love all the lakes for fishing. Thru these trees is the camping area. The camping area has full hook ups. They also have a primitive area for dry camping and tenting. This park is very well maintained. On the way back we decided to take another route. We were so glad we did! The view of the lake from this other route was breath taking! The pictures just don’t do it justice because I could not get the full view into the viewfinder. There weren’t any place to pull over to take pictures. The one place we did stop in the road, we saw this on the other side of the road. Bet you can’t guess what it is! LaVon, this is in place of a dead tree. LOL! We did see lots of these little lakes around the area. There is a wildlife refuge that we will take the binoculars to and see what we can see. That is for another day. After finding this route, we took our friends, Betty and Jay and Betty and Bob and brought them this way to see the park. Neither pair had come this way before and they thought it was just as pretty as we did.

Now here are some more pictures of the golf course. Look at the stripes down the fairway. Rick and Jay are responsible for this lovely picture. This is a nest of one of the resident hawks we have here on the course. I had just missed the hawk being in the nest. Jay hitting his ball. That building in the background is the clubhouse. Also, note the stripes in the other fairway in the background. We have some of the prettiest sunsets around. The entire sky will be pink. Even looking in the opposite direction. And now the Moon Rising Over the Carriage. We have finally gotten into the nice warm days and beautiful evenings. We are loving the weather now! One of these days I will try to get a picture of Mt Renier. We can see it from the park. It is still snow covered and I read online that they just opened up one of the roads in the park there. And this is almost July. We will wait a while before we go see it. I think Rick said it is about 210 miles from us.
