A Great Weekend

Friday morning we got up and got ready to leave for Lake of the Ozarks with Don and LaVon Baker to visit with Bruce and DeAnn Hoover. We all met in Arizona one winter and have become friends. On the way up, we saw signs for a candy store and since we did not have room after lunch for dessert, Don said we needed to stop at this candy store. So we did. They had great fudge and of course, we bought some. I got peanut butter and the other one was peanut butter and chocolate. Both were extremely good! Then we spotted the taffy aisle. That was a mistake. Rick and I went around this huge table with every imaginable flavor of taffy. So we went crazy and filled a bag. We are still enjoying it. Don and LaVon went a little crazy also. They did not buy any taffy, we had enough for all of us. So after we left there, we saw a sign for the Chicago Knife Factory. Don said we needed to stop there so he could buy a knife that he said LaVon lost at one of the parks they were at. So we stopped. He found his knife, I found some soy candles and LaVon found some other items also. On the road again. So we are getting closer and Bruce calls to say, Where are you? We are almost there. Here is the picture on our way in. Then we got there and DeAnn was on her way back from the grocery store and Bruce was there waiting for us. So we were all hungry after driving so they picked a place and off we went to eat. Now we were reminded that we were in the Ozarks and not to be surprised by anything we heard or saw. That put us to thinking, what are we in for? We had catfish and shrimp for dinner. Here we are.

Here is Bruce and DeAnn. I love this picture. Anyone who knows Bruce and DeAnn can just imagine what is being said or thought of here. These two are such a great couple! And here is Don and LaVon. When we started out on our trip, Don prayed for a safe journey and he also prayed that we would still be friends after this trip. LOL!!! And guess what? We still are!!!! Yep, we survived the trip. The next morning we get up and decided to go for a boat ride. Jack and Cathy Montgomery, more friends from AZ, were down at their son’s condo and Bruce said that we would pick them up with the boat. So off we go. This is the boat still in the slip. They have a lift that keeps it out of the water. Here Rick, LaVon, Don and Bruce are already on the boat. DeAnn went back in to get some sun glasses. Our captain, Bruce at the helm. I told him we were going to get him a captain’s hat. DeAnn relaxing as we head out. The guys all together on our way to get the Montgomery’s. LaVon with the windblown look! She would get a little nervous at times if we went over a big wake or if another boat got to close. She was funny. Here we are getting ready to pick up Jack and Cathy.  Notice the ducks in the water in front of the dock. I will post again with more pictures.
