We got back to Josh’s house on Friday evening. As soon as Josh got home from work, Rick and Josh changed the front brakes on Josh’s car. They got caught in the rain. After they got cleaned up, we went out to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner. Boy,was that good!. While we were in there, it stormed and rained like crazy outside. By the time we were done, it was not raining anymore. Saturday, we did some running around while Josh was at work. I needed to buy the birthday boy some presents. He is growing like a weed, so being the good grandparent that I am, I bought him some clothes. LOL! I knew he was going to get plenty of toys from the other people coming to the party. Now he is all about Spiderman, both the red one and the black one. But Friday night he was dressed as Superman. He got out his brother’s guitar and started singing us some songs. Now here he is really getting into being a rock star.
He had made up his own songs. One was about how he fell out of bed and broke his arm. Autumn and I laughed and clapped for him. He was so funny. Sunday we got up and went to church. A very good sermon on how we can be content and happy even with strife in our lives. They have a very good preacher at their church. And then it was time to get ready for the Birthday Party! Autumn made cupcakes and Jay helped her put the spiders on each one.
We bought him an ice cream cake, a strawberry one at that.
This is Jay ready for the party to start.
Notice how muscular he is. Then the guest started arriving and it was time to open the gifts.
This one is him giving Mom a hug for the black Spiderman outfit. He was real excited about getting that one. Then he went to hug Dad too.
And this is the Black Spiderman!!
The little girl on the right is Autumn’s best friends daughter, Lilly. Jay just loves her to death! We all ate to much cake and ice cream. But what are birthdays for anyway. Our little one is growing up fast. He is going to be a tall fellow. As will his brother be also. At least I think so. That is Jackson in the background going behind Jay. Jackson is starting school this Thursday, the 9th. Way to soon for school to be starting, I think anyway. But they will get a whole week off for Thanksgiving. We were all tired out and it was time to get to bed. We said our good byes then because it was going to be early when we left. Josh was up in the morning and we said our good byes to him then. We hit the road about 6:25 a.m. and were on our way back to OK. We got held up in some great big traffic jams and did not get back to the camper till after 6:30 that night. Here is going thru Shreveport, LA.
A stadium along the freeway.
We did not encounter any traffic problems until we got on Route 35. By then, we were only about 3 hours from home. But it took us about 4 hours to go that distance. They had 35 closed for most of the afternoon because of a real bad wreck that involved at least one semi, two to five cars and 3 fatalities. I did not get a picture of the worst car, but here is one of the cars involved.
The other car on a flatbed was unrecognizable. It was burned and you knew no one could have survived that. Here is the semi.
Not a very good picture, but we were on the frontage road running along side of the interstate. This happened just before a merge area with an on ramp also. Someone just wasn’t paying attention and at least three people died. Another one was life flighted to Fort Worth. Not sure what happened to that person. But we made it home safely, thanks to prayers by us and by Don and LaVon. Thank you Lord. As we were getting closer to home, I called to see what the Bakers were doing. We met for dinner and had pizza and salads and great conversations. Then it was time to go home to unpack the truck and relax. We had turned off our A/C while we were gone and it was 95 inside the camper. So we turned on the a/c’s and went over to visit the Bakers some more till our place cooled down. It was pretty comfortable when we got back. Only unpacked the essentials and watch TV until I couldn’t hold my eyes open any longer. Had a great night’s sleep. This morning we got up and after breakfast, Rick went over to replace the top cover to their vent that had been damaged in the storm. Luckily, we did not have any damage to our camper what so ever. And this afternoon I have been catching up on my e-mails and blog. Glad to be home, but had a great visit with Josh and his family.
