Trip to Florida

We left early Monday morning (7/27) heading to Florida to make that our home state. We stopped off Monday night in Hattiesburg, MS to see our son Josh and his family. That was just a pit stop as we were up early Tuesday to head to the Jacksonville, FL area. With a promise to be back in Mississippi by the end of the week for our grandson Jay’s 4th birthday. This is coming into Mobile AL on route 10.102_3353 Here is the USS Alabama which is in the harbor at Mobile.102_3356 This is the rest stop on Route 10 in Florida. We always seem to stop here on our way thru.102_3361 We got to Jacksonville at about rush hour. We got off the interstate and luckily the hotel we were going to stay at was right there. We did not have to travel very far in the rush hour traffic. Thank goodness. We got into our room, which was on the first floor facing a small courtyard not far from the pool. Just as we were in our room, the flood gates opened up and it started to pour and the lightning was tremendous. So we had dinner at the sports bar in the hotel and called it a night. We had to be up early the next day for our doctor’s appointments. After that, we went to get our mail, go get our drivers license, and our license plates for both the truck and the camper. The little town of Green Cove Springs is a very pretty town. Here is the clock tower at the court house.102_3374  And this little church was on the way into town. 102_3373 Green Cove Springs is across the river from St Augustine.102_3377 Even though it rained most of the time we were there, it was still very pretty. The doctor wanted me to have a mammogram, so they made an appointment for the same afternoon. Everything went very smoothly and we were so pleased. We did need to go back to the doctors office the very next morning for blood work. No problem. Then we were on the road heading back to Mississippi. We stopped at our friends house for a visit and ended up going out to dinner for the best catfish around. We went back to their house and Rick and Jim were talking about going golfing in the morning. So we spent the night with them. They are more like family than just friends. Donna had just gotten good news about her cancer. IT WAS GONE!! Thank you Lord for answered prayer. She was looking real good and was feeling pretty good also. So we sat and talked while the guys went golfing. They have two new additions to the household.102_3378 This is Spice. Donna said she should have named him Angel.102_3379 This is Sugar. Donna said he should have been named Devil. Here is the entire family.102_3381 We really enjoyed our time with them. We have known them for a very long time. On Friday afternoon we headed up to Josh and Autumns’ to spend the weekend. Jay’s birthday is Sunday and he is having a party!
