Getting caught up
Hello everyone, the past week has had its ups and downs and we have been on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. We left OH on the 9th to go to PA for my Mom's side family reunion. We got to the campground and most of the sites were wet due to all the rain. We found 2 that seemed like they would work out for us. My sister and her husband came in on Thurs. and we had a good time. But Wed night Rick's sister Joyce called us to tell us about his Mom's doctor appt she had that afternoon. It was not good news. They were told that her kidneys and the liver will start to shut down and that will put her into a coma. Once she is in the coma, it will be a matter of a very short time and she will be gone. This will be very painful from what I understand so please keep her and the family in your prayers. So last night we found out that she was in the hospital. So we called to find out what is going on. She had congestive heat failure that allows fluid to build up in her lungs. This is the case now. But tonight she is going home, so they finally got her on the right meds to get rid of the fluid. So we are just waiting for the call to tell us the bad news. So, do we keep on going or just sit and wait? Larry, from church told us that God has his reason for us to be doing what we are doing and to keep going. Since there is nothing we can do for Mom at this time but pray, that is what we are doing. Back to the family reunion. It was a great time and more people came than we thought would come due to the high cost of fuel. That high cost kept the cousins from Georgia from coming up to PA. We played golf on Friday at the course my cousin on my Dad's side of the family plays and he got us a good discount. There were 4 guys and 4 gals golfing. The guys went first then us ladies went. We didn't golf very good but we had a great time. After lunch Rick and I went and played another 9 holes. We didn't do any better than the first 9. Oh well. The only good thing was, that we played the golf course that is right beside the cemetary that my Dad is buried in. That was special because he has played that course many times. Then we went over to visit the graveside. That was really emotional. I miss him so much. My mom and sisters came in that night and they also went to the cemetary. At the reunion, my mom had a spell of dizzyness and very low blood pressure. Luckily my 2 cousins were there. One is a doctor, (an internist) and the other is an emergency room nurse. So the doctor called 911 because her pulse was weak and she was real clamy. Boy did she get upset with him. But he said better to be safe than sorry. So I took her over to the camper in the air conditioner to get her cooled off. We stayed there for about an hour and then back to the party. She was fine after that but we will check up on her now that we are home to make sure she called the doctor to let them know her blood pressure meds need adjusted. Ok, back to the trip to Gettysburg. We took the wrong route here and it was horrible on the camper and truck. More so on the truck. 3.5 miles down hill is not good for brakes. We had to pull over about 3/4 of the way down to let them cool down. But they are ok now and we are so thankful. Tomorrow my 3 sisters, my niece and her daughter come over and we are going to ride horses thru the battlefield of Gettysburg. I know we will be sore when we are done. Liz, I know how you feel and we won't even be doing any of the fast stuff you were doing. We leave here on Friday morning and head to NY state for a while until we head to New Hampshire. I do have pictures but do not have time to upload them now. We have set up our big computer and I do not have the live writer on it and we do not have the router yet so both computers can be online at the same time. It is so nice to look at a 19" monitor compared to the smaller laptop. When we were at the reunion, we stopped and visited with my Dad's brother, Uncle Lewie. He will be 91 on the 27th on this month and his mind is still real sharp and his heart is good. He needs to wear oxygen all the time though, and he has had to adjust to that. He still plays golf once a week and is really good at it. He really misses my dad also. It is neat to see how much he looks like my dad or my dad looked like him. Since he was the older brother. After getting set up today we went out for Chinese and when we came back we went for a walk around the park. Now we are just relaxing. Not sure when I will post again so everyone take care.

Sounds like we are all in the same boat together with regard to our parents' health. We are continuing to pray for all. So glad you are getting to spend a little time with all your family.
Horse riding? Oh, girl! wait till you hear Snookie's story, too. Have fun!!
