Seeing the sites in Massachusetts

Sat and Sun we did a whole lot of nothing. Sunday it started raining in the early morning hours and rained most of the day. We started getting worried when the locals kept going over to the creek to see how far it had risen. It came up at least a foot from when it was gently flowing the day before. But they said not to worry this time. Boy were we relieved!! We are getting a complex about the rain. Everywhere we have been it has been raining. Normally with this lifestyle, if you didn't like the weather, you just moved on. But we cannot do this as we have a commitment to be at Rick's family reunion in New Hampshire in Aug. But Monday we woke up and the sun was out and we thought we should do some site seeing while the weather was nice. We went to get fuel and on the way back, we stopped at a pull off to watch the water. We talked to some locals and they said that normally there is very little water in this area and you could walk all the way across with no problem. But not today because of all the rain. This is from the lookout area. We decided to go take a closer look and stop at the park we were told about on the other side of the bridge.This is the bridge we walked across to get a closer look at the water. It was safer than it looks. They use this for emergency vehicles when they need to get someone out of the water. Like I said, it normally isn't like this.   Doesn't it look mean? It was just mesmerizing to watch. After we were done looking at the water, we went into a little museum they had there showing the areas wildlife and water shed. That was really interesting. From there we headed out to get a few groceries and came upon this. This is in Turner Falls, MA. I loved it!!! We got groceries and went back to the camper. The price of food here is high. I am confused about what day we did what. Anyway, we went to a place they call the Bridge of Flowers. It is an old bridge they do not use anymore and the Ladies Auxiliary planted flowers to honor the men that had died in WWI and WWII. It was really pretty. There was every color and size of daylilies you can imagine. This was the plaque. Most of the roses were past their prime but not these. I know these are phlox.I
think these are snowballs. It was neat that one plant had 3 different colors on it.  This was one of the trees that have been planted on the bridge. Isn't it neat how it has grown? There were several that were twisted but this one was the most twisted. Sorry LaVon, it is not a dead tree. Those are your categories. LOL!! It was really neat to look at. And on the banks of the river, they had little shops and art galleries and the back of these buildings looked like they were going to fall into the water. From there we went to the Yankee Candle factory. That also was a neat place to look at. We smelled a whole lot of different candles and some were very fragrant and some were awful. But they had all kinds of stuff there like kitchen items, lawn items, and a whole lot of Christmas items. We must have spent 2 hours in there just looking at stuff. Today we got up and after lunch we went to play golf. There is a 9 hole course close to the campground and it is quite hilly. But we are up in elevation here so this was not a surprise. We did not do to bad considering we have never played this course before and half the time you could not see the pin from the tee box. And boy was it wet. They also had several trees that had come down in the last storm. We may go again before we leave. We have had 2 whole days of no rain. We did get a couple of sprinkles at the golf course but no big rain storm. Thank goodness. The assistant managers are really great people also and they have been giving us options as what to do and she said today that Thursday it may rain but the rest of our time here should be dry. I hope so.
